On Thursday 15th August, our Liverpool branch held a fundraiser for Breast Cancer Now. We held an afternoon tea in our head office, raising an INCREDIBLE £158 so far for the incredible breast cancer charity!
We want to say a massive thank you to everybody who came along on the day, donated to a fabulous cause, wore pink, and helped us raise awareness for breast cancer.
As a reminder, we should ALL be regularly checking our breasts for lumps, bumps and abnormalities (even you too men!). Every 10 minutes, someone will be told they have breast cancer. So, it is our job to help fundraise and work towards better treatment and better support for those who have been diagnosed.
By supporting us with our fundraisers, and donating even a small amount, you can help us move closer to a world where everybody who is diagnosed with breast cancer lives a healthy life.

How to check your breasts
To check your breasts in the most effective way for abnormalities, you can follow the TLC method:
- Touch – can you FEEL anything new or unusual?
- Look – do your breasts LOOK different than ususal? Has the shape or size changed?
- Check – if you notice any changes, make sure you CHECK with your GP.
It is often easier for you to check your breasts in the shower, using your whole palm to feel all around the breast and armpit area.
Signs and symptoms
When checking your breasts for lumps and bumps, it is important that you look for the following symptoms:
- Lumps/bumps in the breast or armpit area.
- Discharge from the nipple.
- Dimpling of the skin.
- Nipples becoming inverted.
- One breast is significantly larger/smaller than the other, or the size/shape has changed.
- Red, irritated skin around the nipple area.
- Any changes in the skin texture.
Whilst these symptoms apply to both men and women, men should also be checking for sores and ulcers on their chest if they believe they may have breast cancer.
