On the 20th of October 2023, all of our office staff took part in Wear it Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month, which runs for the whole of October. This involved wearing a pink item of clothing and handing in a small donation each. As a team we managed to raise a fabulous £105 for Breast Cancer Now!
Breast Cancer Now are a fantastic charity with the goal of funding research for finding better treatments and aid detection for breast cancer, as well as funding support for those suffering with it, as well as their friends and family.
This is an extremely important month as it allows us to think and reflect about all of those who have lost their lives to breast cancer – and that includes men. It also brings awareness to how often we should be checking our breasts; you should be doing this regularly (ideally in the shower) to ensure you are clued up on how your breasts normally look and feel. This helps you to identify if there are any abnormalities with your breasts that you may need to get checked out.
There is a lot of stigma around breast cancer and the symptoms, so that is why it is extremely important to get your breasts checked out if you notice anything out of the ordinary. Symptoms for breast cancer include: dimpling around the breast, discharge, soreness, lumps, bumps and a general change in texture.
