Professional Care Workers Week – Supporting the Care Workers Charity

Professional Care Workers Week Logo against a white background.

Between the 16th and 20th September 2024, we are celebrating Professional Care Workers Week (PCWW) with the Care Workers Charity!

So, what does this involve?

If you don’t know, the Care Workers Charity are the only UK charity that aims to support health and social care workers, through providing mental health support, crisis grants, and much more. Since March, we have been supportive members of the incredible charity, working alongside the charity to ensure our care staff receiving the support and recognition they deserve. To read more about what the Care Workers Charity do for health and social care workers across the UK, and our role as supportive members, please read our blog post here.

As part of Professional Care Workers Week, the Care Workers Charity will feature a series of virtual panels and information sessions led by care workers, care managers, and leading figures in Adult Social Care. These sessions are entirely free and accessible from anywhere, ensuring anyone is able to participate, wherever they are.

Why “Professional” Care Workers’ Week?

The term “Professional” highlights the skilled nature of care work, which often goes unrecognized.

Professionalisation means acknowledging the diverse skills and responsibilities of care workers, offering fair wages above the Real Living Wage, providing career development opportunities, and recognising their immense societal value. For those receiving care, professionalisation means higher trust levels, safety, accountability, and transparency.

PCWW serves as a platform to elevate the status of care workers in the UK, showcase their excellent work, and facilitate learning and best practice sharing.
